The Department of Nephrology caters to the patients of renal diseases with focus on renal transplant. The department is well equipped with a five bedded post transplant ICU. The hospital matches the international standards of success in renal transplantation with survival rates of 95% at first year.
The Nephrology unit is well equipped with five haemodialysis machines and performs more than 3,500 dialysis procedures every year. This number is the largest in the state and benefits both acute and chronic renal failure patients.
The department is ably supervised by the Head of Department Dr Ashok Kumar Sharma. Facilities for bicarbonate dialysis, ultra filtration and plasmapheresis exist. There is a separate peritoneal dialysis unit. Hospital is pioneer in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). It also offers regular patient interactive sessions and education programme.
